What is Banana Blossom?
Banana Blossoms are exactly as their name suggests, the flower blossoming under the banana bunch. Like bananas, they are wonderfully edible but unlike banana in their taste. Instead, they have a mild flavour and chunky, flaky texture that makes it an ideal substitute for fish.
How do you use it?
Traditionally used in south-east Asian and Indian cooking, it can be used in a variety of ways. Our favourites are in salads, stir-fries, curries, tacos and crumbed for fish and chips.
Banana blossom can be eaten raw or cooked. Forget having to clean, dissect and soak them though - we have done all the work for you and canned the best bits. Simply open the can and enjoy it your way or go Bananas for our delicious recipe ideas.
