At Ceres Organics, we believe everyday choices shape your health and the health of our planet. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Natracare, a brand that has been leading change in period care for over four decades.

A pioneer for people and planet

Founded in 1980 by Susie Hewson, Natracare began as a bold response to an industry built on synthetics. As a lone campaigning voice at the time, Susie challenged the use of plastics, chlorine bleaching and unnecessary chemicals in products designed for the most intimate part of the body. From developing the world’s first certified organic cotton tampon, Natracare has grown into a trusted global brand, now available in over 50 countries.

A partnership grounded in shared values

We’ve been proudly distributing Natracare in New Zealand since 1992 with the goal of providing people with a healthier option of disposable period care products that are not only better for a person’s health but are also biodegradable and compostable.

Nowadays there are other organic and natural brands available but none quite like Natracare: no other brand is designed to be bio-recyclable. When successfully composted, nothing but biomass, carbon dioxide and water is left behind.

How does Natracare helps us live organic every day?

By using Natracare products you are not only caring for your body and the planet but for the health of those involved in making the products.

•    All ingredients are of natural origin, biodegradable and certified

•    All products are free from petrochemicals and artificial fragrances

•    Natracare pads feature an organic cotton cover paired with a responsibly sourced wood pulp core. This makes for superior performance as the structure of wood pulp absorbs more than cotton, but also a lower carbon footprint with wood absorbing far more carbon from the environment than cotton plants.

•    Conventionally grown cotton is one of the most heavily-sprayed crops in the world. Organic cotton farming avoids these harmful chemicals, protecting growers, their families and surrounding ecosystems.

Transparency you can trust

Period care should come with clarity. Studies have raised concerns about residual chemicals, heavy metals and even PFAS (“forever chemicals”) found in some mainstream and reusable products.

Independent validation and precautionary testing are central to Natracare’s quality systems. As part of their annual organic certification audits, products are tested by third-party accredited laboratories for heavy metals, PFAS, pesticides and glyphosate. Results from their GOTS certified organic cotton tampons show no detectable traces of heavy metals or other chemicals of concern, and these results are publicly available for added peace of mind.

Natracare tampons are certified organic by the Soil Association (UK), while pads and pantyliners are USDA BioPreferred certified and carry the TÜV Austria Seedling mark for industrial compostability. It’s a level of verification that reflects a genuine commitment to accountability.

Better for you, better for the planet

From their Certified Organic Tampons to their Safe to Flush Moist Tissues made from 100% paper, each product is designed with care and intention. Choosing Natracare means caring for your body, supporting safer working conditions for farmers, and reducing your environmental footprint, all through an everyday essential.
