ingredients

  • 130g Ceres Organics mixed nuts (such as almonds, walnuts, and cashews), roughly chopped
  • 90g Ceres Organics Quick Cooking Oats
  • 30g Ceres Organics Rolled Oats
  • 80g Ceres Organics Dried Blueberries
  • 45g Ceres Organics Pumpkin Seeds
  • 30g Ceres Organics Flaxseed
  • 75g Ceres Organics Hemp Hearts
  • 1 ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp Ceres Organics Ground Turmeric
  • Just less than ¼ tsp of sea salt
  • 5g grated rind of orange
  • Pinch of black pepper (to enhance turmeric absorption)
  • 90g Ceres Organics Maple Syrup
  • 70g Ceres Organics Coconut Oil (melted)
  • 70g Ceres Organics Almond Butter
  • 10ml vanilla extract
  • 150g dark chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate (chopped) min 70% - melted over double boiler

method

  1. Preheat your oven to 160°C and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine all the dry ingredients. Stir through.
  3. In a separate bowl, melt the coconut oil before adding in the other liquids. Give it a quick stir then pour over the dry ingredients.
  4. Mix until well incorporated.
  5. Press the nut mixture firmly into the prepared baking dish to create an even layer. Make sure that you take time to press the mixture into the tin properly so it’s nice and tight.
  6. Remove from the oven. Drizzle over melted chocolate and spread it evenly to create a thin chocolate layer then grind over some black pepper.
  7. Let the slice cool completely in the baking dish and refrigerate for about an hour to help it set. Once the slice is firm, remove from tray, invert and place on a board chocolate side down. Cut into squares or bars.
